About The Exhibition – DREAMWEAVERS, Nicola Vassell’s second independent blue-chip group exhibition, examines the evolution of artistic practice against a vigorously shifting 21st century and points to the surreal as a testament of shared and individual, reality-defying experiences. It probes the paradox of fact and fantasy in contemporary society through the lens of artists who operate from a deeply imaginative, often paradoxical and provocative, psychological space.
The Work – In collaboration with Nicola Vassell, recognized as one of the leaders in contemporary art dealing, Konigbagbe was mandated to imagine a sweeping production design element that would contextualize the exhibition’s concept into its physical appearance.
Konigbagbe also directed filmmaker Sing J Lee. to produce a lush series of in-depth film interviews entitled IN CONVERSATION. The series features artists and collectors, shot in various locations in Beverly Hills and central Los Angeles. Through intimate conversations, IN CONVERSATION focuses on each artist's individual story and varied perspectives on power, expressivity, the art market; capturing their efforts to find inspiration, impart knowledge, experience, connect and share respectful, constructive critiques.
